Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is a co-ed independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC. Our inclusive community, rich variety of programs, and personal supports enable each child to experience an educational journey that’s as unique and multidimensional as they are.
Discover Where
You Belong
A GNS education is intended, and designed, to open the universe of possibilities to every student and to ignite their passion for their own unique futures. We help students discover who they are, not just what they want to be. When they leave GNS, they have learned how to be curious, engaged and balanced learners who are ready to take positive risks, make mistakes and follow their own path.
GNS students aren’t afraid to push boundaries and be fully themselves, because they belong to a community that values courage, empathy and individuality. The result is university-ready graduates with a strong sense of self, who are confident in their abilities and ready to create change in the world.

Our Approach
Whether at our oceanfront Junior School or six-acre Pemberton Woods Campus, your family will be welcomed into an inclusive, close-knit community. Our classes are small by design, so students receive personal attention and form strong relationships. We work closely with parents to provide an experience that suits each child.
We offer a vast and varied selection of academic and co-curricular options, so that each child’s educational journey can be as unique as they are. All students are encouraged to explore the full range of opportunities available to them, including arts, athletics, science, math, leadership, service and more.
As a proud International Baccalaureate (IB) World Continuum School, and a member of the Round Square, we offer a learning experience that balances strong academics with co-curricular enrichment. This whole-child approach creates global thinkers who are committed, creative and compassionate leaders and stewards of the world.

What GNS Families Are Saying
"This very old institution works extraordinarily hard to deliver a very 21st Century education and I believe they succeed. The magic lies in the teachers whom I have found to be committed beyond measure and among the kindest and caring I have ever known. The idea that GNS sets out to care about and nurture each child individually is not marketing, I have seen this mission carried out in the classroom, at provincial sporting events, in debate club, at graduation, and beyond."
– Lisa Layera, parent of Jack ’19 and Jojo ’27"It's a really great school where you are going to learn a lot of important skills for the future, which will set you up really nicely not only for university, but just life in general. It also has a really great community feel where you are able to make connections really easily. I know every single person in my grade very personally and we will take life-long friendships with us wherever we go."
– Ava Dryden ’21“I love the amazing community and the support you get from your peers and teachers. It feels like someone is always there to help out when needed. My favourite part of Middle School has been how the teachers help us learn. They always adapt their lessons so we can understand them to the best of our abilities."
– Alison Scott ’27"As a newcomer to GNS, I have been overwhelmed with the outstanding support system for my son."
– Natalie Gaines, mother of Taagen '24"Maddy’s teachers, coaches and instructors did so much for her, and helped her become the amazing young woman she is today."
– Rudy and Mary Anne Marchildon, parents of Maddy '16'We believe strongly in the traditional values and mission of this school. Lizzie is the third generation of our family to attend GNS."
– Sarah Emslie '80, mother of Lizzie '23"Every child is seen at GNS. No one falls through the cracks. The confidence displayed by the students here has so much to do with that."
– Junior School Parent"GNS is a closely-knit supportive community that offers opportunities and experiences to inspire students."
– Middle School Parent"GNS recognizes that each student is an individual and works towards helping them be THEIR best, rather than trying to make everyone be THE best."
